Description of key information

With high probability acutely not harmful to aquatic algae.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The toxicity of ethylene urea on aquatic algae was investigated with Selenastrum capricornutum in a GLP guideline study according to OECD 201 (BASF, 299A-116, 2001). No inhibition was observed up to the highest test concentration of 119 mg/L. This result is supported by a publication for the hazard assessment of the test item to Chlorella pyrenoidosa. The EC50 value (based on the growth rate after 96 hours) was determined to be 16000 mg/L (Van Leeuwen 1985).
