Description of key information

With high probability not harmful to aquatic algae.
EC50 (72h) > 100 mg/L and EC10 (72h) = 3.74 mg/L based on nominal rates for growth rate of Desmodesmus subspicatus (OECD 201)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In a GLP guideline study following OECD 201 green algae (Desmodesmus subspicatus) were exposed for 72 hours to

Fatty acids, C16 -18 and C18 -unsatd., Me esters, epoxidized, reaction products with ethylene glycol [BASF SE, 2013]. Based on the multicomponent composition that is only partially soluble the aquatic toxicity on algae was investigated by using water accommodated fractions (WAF) with a maximum loading of 100 mg/L (measured) test item. The 72-h EC50 for growth rate inhibition is determined to be >100 mg/L based on nominal loading rates (EC10 (72h) = 3.74 mg/L).
