Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

The ready biodegradability of the test item 2,3-Epoxypropyl neodecanoate, oligomeric reaction products with toluene-4-sulfonic acid was determined with a non adapted activated sludge over a test period of 28 days in the Modified Sturm Test according to OECD 301 B. The biodegradation was calculated for each titration time. The percentage degradation of the functional control reached the pass level of 60 % after 6 days and a biodegradation of 88 % after 28 days. The biodegradation of the reference item was not inhibited by the test item in the toxicity control. Both test item replicates reached the 10 % level (beginning of biodegradation) after 18 days and came to a biodegradation of 13 % and 20 %, respectively, after 28 days. The test item is considered as not readily biodegradable under test conditions.

Since the risk assessment showed that the risk for the use of the substance is reasonably controlled there is no need to further investigate the degradation potential for the substance.
