Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

4-Acetylmorpholine (CAS 1696-20-4) is readily biodegradable following a weight-of-evidence approach. In a Zahn-Wellens test (OECD 302B) with 4 -acetylmorpholine was determined to be inherently biodegradable. A ready biodegradable test (OECD 301A) with the structurally similar substance 4 -morpholinecarbaldehyde (CAS 4394 -85 -8) was determined to readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.

The following results with 4-Acetylmorpholine and the structurally similar 4 -morpholinecarbaldehyde were considered:

- CAS 1696 -20 -4, 4 -acetylmorpholine: BASF AG (1992; Study No. 91/1665/10/1): OECD 302B, domestic activated sludge: 98% after 21 d (lag phase 5 to 6 d): inherently biodegradable

- CAS 4394 -85 -8, 4 -morpholinecarbaldehyde: BASF AG (1997). Study No. 96/0625/21/2: OECD 301A, domestic activated sludge: 96% in 21 d (lag phase: 14 d): readily biodegradable
