Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

readily biodegradable

Additional information

2-Aminobutanol meets the criteria for ready biodegradability based on the OECD 301F test. At the end of the 28-day test, the extent of biodegradation based on BOD, CO2 evolution, and dissolved organic carbon (DOC) removal for 11 mg/L test substance reached 119 ± 5.0%, 93.0 ± 11.8%, and 85.0 ± 21.3% (mean ± 1 Std. Dev). No biodegradation was observed in an OECD 301F test using 100 mg/L test substance in which the oxygen consumption measured in the test mixtures was less than the control mixtures (no test substance added). These results suggest that the test substance may be inhibitory to the microbial inoculum at high test concentrations.
