Additional information

Toxicity for EDHO has been evaluated only in birds on an acute basis. Two acute avian tests were conducted with EDHO according to protocols similar to standard test guidelines. The first test was an acute oral test with northern bobwhite (Colinus virginanus) designed to determine the LD50 of EDHO. The second test was an acute dietary test with northern bobwhite (Colinus virginanus) designed to determine the LC50 of EDHO (similar to OECD 205).

The LD50 of EDHO to northern bobwhite was determined to be 1100 mg a.i./kg body weight. The LC50 of EDHO to northern bobwhite was determined to be >5000 mg a.i./kg diet. These results of the avian acute tests indicate that EDHO would be classified as not dangerous to avian species on an acute basis.

No additional studies on terrestrial organisms are available for EDHO. In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, the risk characterization for soil has been performed using the equilibrium partitioning method. This conservative approach did not indicate a need to further investigate the effects of the substance and/or degradation products on terrestrial organisms.

Hence, further testing of effects on additional terrestrial organisms can be waived for EDHO.
