Additional information

Dodecanedioic acid did not show irritating effects in an acute dermal irritation study. Based on a read across among category members, Undecanedioic acid is not expected as well to have irritating effects on skin. An acute eye irritation study was performed on Undecanedioic acid showed moderate to important occular reactions but totally reversible.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to Dangerous Substances Directive, DSD (67/548/EC) and CLP regulation (1272/2008/EC), Undecanedioic acid does not require classification regarding skin irritation. However, taking into account the important and reversible occular reactions, the substance will be classified Xi; R36 (irritating to eyes) according to DSD and "Eye Irritating 2", H319 (Causes serious eye irritation) according to CLP.
