Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The 96-h EbC50, ErC50 and EyC50 values were 6.3, >9.0 and 7.2 mg/L, respectively. The NOEC for all parameters was 1.1 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
1.1 mg/L

Additional information

In a study performed according to OECD TG 201 and EU Method C.3, Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was exposed to five concentrations of the substance ranging from 0.12 to 9.0 mg/L based on geometric mean measured concentrations and evaluated for effects on area under the growth curve, growth rate and yield for 96 hours [Jacobs et al, 2014]. The 96-h EbC50, ErC50 and EyC50 values, based on area under the growth curve, growth rate and yield were 6.3, >9.0 and 7.2 mg/L, respectively. Based on evaluation of the statistical results and the concentration response pattern of the growth inhibitions on area under the growth curve, growth rate and yield, the NOEC for all parameters was determined to be 1.1 mg/L.

The results of this study are supported by the results from a study performed according to OECD test guideline 201 with the alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata using the read-across substance N,N-dimethyldecan-1 -amide, mixture with N,N-dimethyloctan-1 -amide (CAS No. 67359 -57 -3) [Anderson, 1993]. The test substance was applied directly (no vehicle was used) for 72h in a static freshwater system. Good agreement of nominal and measured concentrations was verified analytically. All validity criteria were met. The growth rate EC50 (72h) of the test substance was 16.06 mg/l, while the growth rate NOEC (72h) was 1.8 mg/L.
