- No. of vessels per control (replicates): 4

TEST MEDIUM / WATER PARAMETERS
- Source/preparation of dilution water: Tap water was filtered through a PF filter, thereafter through an activated charcoal filter and again through a PF filter. Measurement values (like hardness, particulate matter, pH-value, total organic carbon, etc.) were confirmed within the range of values according to 'Water Quality Criteria for Fisheries' (Japan Fisheries Resource Conservation Association, March, 2006), OECD 210 and Health and Welfare Ministry ordinance No. 101, January 28 2011
- Intervals of water quality measurement: More than once every six month

OTHER TEST CONDITIONS
- Adjustment of pH: no
- Photoperiod: 16 h light / 8 h dark (room light)

TEST CONCENTRATIONS
- Range finding study: yes
- Test concentrations: nominal test concentrations of 10 and 100 mg/L
- Results used to determine the conditions for the definitive study: No mortality was observed in both concentrations
Reference substance (positive control):
yes

LC50
Effect conc.:
> 100 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
nominal
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
mortality
Duration:
48 h
Dose descriptor:

Description of key information

LC50 (48 h): > 100 mg/L (nominal) for Daphnia magna (OECD 202)
LC50 (48 h): > 91.3 mg/L (nominal) for Daphnia magna (OECD 202)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One experimental study investigating the short-term effects of the test substance to aquatic invertebrates is available (Tosoh Corporation, 2014). The study was performed according to OECD 202 under GLP conditions with the water flea Daphnia magna. The limit test with the test concentration of 100 mg/L (nominal) did not result in any immobilized Daphnia and no abnormal behavior was observed. Thus, EC50 values (48 h) of > 100 mg/L (nominal) and > 91.3 mg/L (measured) were derived.
