Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test substance, Centralit, was tested for growth inhibition on algae Desmodesmus subspicatus.
The test was performed according to method C.3. - Freshwater Algae and Cyanobacteria, Growth Inhibition Test, Commission Regulation (EC) No. 761/2009, Annex IV.
Since the test substance is poorly soluble in test medium at concentrations needed for the test, the saturated solutions of the test substance in test medium were prepared.
The full test was performed in range of test substance nominal concentrations 1 – 64 mg.L-1. Samples for analytical determination were taken at the beginning, after 24 hours, 48 hours and at the end of the test.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
37.8 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
1.4 mg/L

Additional information

The analytical results showed that the test substance Centralit was stable in test medium at conditions of the test in sample without algae. In samples with algae was observed decrease of the concentration of the test substance. The difference between the determined concentration at the beginning of the test and determined concentration at the end of the test observed especially at lower concentrations of the test substance were caused by adsorption of the test substance to the algal biomass.
