In case of eye contact: Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical advice.

If swallowed: Do not induce vomiting. Make the victim rinse his mouth with water. Seek medical advice.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms: Nausea, vomiting. Dizziness. Headache. Coughing. Dyspnoea.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:

Suitable extinguishing media: All means (e.g. water, carbon dioxide, dry chemical extinguisher).

Extinguishing media that must not be used for safety reasons: Strong water jet.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

In case of fire, the product may emit toxic and/or irritating fumes. Supposed thermal decomposition/oxidation: Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide Sulphurous oxides (SOx) Possible explosive mixtures (vapors heavier than air).

Advice for firefighters:

Special protective equipment for firefighting: Use self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear full protective suit.

Further information: Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment. Cool containers / tanks with water spray. Avoid rejection of extinguishing water in the environment.

Accidental release measures

Environmental precautions: Avoid any spreading of product.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up:

General advice: Take up with absorbent material (eg sand, kieselguhr, universal binder) Sweep and shovel the solid product in a container adapted for its recovery or destroying (avoiding dust formation). Close and label rigorously.

Cleaning of contaminated zone: After taking up the product, rinse the polluted area with water.

Elimination of recovered materials: Deliver to Environmental service of the factory or to any specialized and approved disposal service.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Advice on safe handling (industrial scale): Emission point fume extraction. Earth vessels and equipment well. Take precautionary measures against electrostatic loading.

Advice on safe handling (laboratory scale): Handling in a hood recommended.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Requirements for storage rooms and vessels: Keep containers tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place.

Advice on common storage: Do not store with strong oxidizing agents.

Further information on storage conditions: Keep away from sources of ignition --- No smoking. Store in a well-ventilated place. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Provide for grounding and other precautionary measures against static discharges.

Storage temperature: Keep at ambient temperature.

Packaging material advised: Brown glass.

Sensitivity Heat: Decomposition.

Stability and reactivity

Stability and reactivity

Safety remarks: Highly flammable. Vapours may form explosive mixtures with air (between the lower and upper explosion limits). Keep away from sources of ignition --- No smoking. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Incompatible materials: Strong oxidizing agents.

Hazardous decomposition products: Supposed thermal decomposition/oxidation: Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide Sulphurous oxides (SOx)
