Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

General advice : Seek medical advice if feeling unwell. Ensure that the First Aid Personnel are aware of the product involved,

and take precautions to protect themselves (e.g. wear personal protection equipment). Remove affected person from danger area, lay him down.

Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately. Keep warm, calm and covered up.

If inhaled : Remove the casualty into fresh air and keep him calm.

In case of contact with skin wash off immediately with plenty of water.

In case of contact with the eyes rinse thoroughly with plenty of water or with an eye-cleaning solution.

When swallowed seek medical aid immediately and show  the physician the packaging or the label of the packaging.

Fire-fighting measures

Avoid to raise product dust.

Suitable extinguishing media : alcohol-resistant foam, dry powder, water spray jet

Unsuitable extinguishing media : Full water jet, carbon dioxide (may raise dust)

In case of fires, hazardous combustion gases are formed: Carbon monoxide (CO), Carbon dioxide (CO2). Heavy soot production may occure during fire. Under certain conditions of combustion traces of other toxic substances cannot be excluded.

Do not inhale explosion and/or combustion gases. Use self-contained breathing apparatus. Avoid release of firefighting water to environment.

Fire residues and contaminated firefighting water must be disposed of in accordance with the local regulations.

Accidental release measures

Use personal protective clothing. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Remove persons to safety. Avoid raising of dust.

Do not allow entry to drains, water courses or soil. Contain contaminated water/firefighting water. Contain spillage, pick up with an electrically protected vacuum cleaner or by wet-brushing and transfer to a container for disposal according to local regulations (see section 13). Treat recovered material according to specific national regulations.

Handling and storage

During its lifecycle the substance should be handled under strictly controlled conditions and it should be rigorously contained in accordance

with Art. 18. Considering national regulation and best practise standards technical, organizational and PPE measures should be taken to minimize release of and exposure to this substance. Employees shall be regularly trained. The efficiency of these measures shall be controlled e.g. by workplace measurements. In case of deviations these measures shall be adapted.

Provide good ventilation of working area (local exhaust ventilation if necessary). To minimze exposure avoid formation of dust. In case of handling of the dry product take precautionary measures against electrostatic loading and use additional PPE, e.g. dust mask. Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals.

Product dust may form explosive atmosphere with air. Keep away from sources of ignition - refrain from smoking. Take precautionary measures against electrostatic charges - earthing may be necessary during loading/unloading operations. Observe the general rules of industrial fire protection.

Do not store or transport together with foodstuffs. Do not store together with animal feedstocks.

Exposure controls / personal protection

If possible, handle material in moist form to avoid dust formation and minimize the risk of inhalative exposure. Handle dry material only in closed system and avoid to raise dust.

Respiratory protection : In case of handling of dry material use respiratory protection, e.g. dust mask, in case of insufficient exhaust ventilation or prolonged exposure.

Hand protection : For long-term exposure: Butyl rubber gloves.

Eye protection : tightly fitting safety glasses

Skin and body protection : Working cloth

Hygiene measures : Do not eat, drink or smoke during work time.

Remove soiled clothing immediately and clean thoroughly before using again. Garments that cannot be cleaned must be destroyed (burnt).

Keep away from foodstuffs and beverages. Clean hands and face during work intervals and after work. Avoid contact of the substance.

Do not inhale dust. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Do not allow entry to drains, water courses or soil. Contain contaminated water/firefighting water. If the product gets into drains, inform the relevant authorities immediately.

Stability and reactivity

No dangerous reaction known under conditions of normal use. No decomposition, if stored and applied as directed.

Risk of dust explosions. Avoid heat, flames and sparks.

Materials to avoid : Strong bases

Disposal considerations

Product that cannot be returned to manufacturer or into production process should be incinerated in a special waste incineration plant, after consultation with the operators. Packaging that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of as product waste. Observe local authority regulations.
