A study was conducted to assess the melting point of 2 -chloro-5-chloromethylpyridine accronding to EU test method A.2 which is equivaled to OECD 103 by differential scanning calorimetry. The test item was heated up from ambient temperature to the final temperature (300 °C) at a constant heating rate (10 K/min) in a defined atmosphere (nitrogen). The quantity of heat absorbed or released was measured and recorded. Aluminium crucibles with a small hole were used as containers for the test item and as empty reference crucible. A boiling point of 257°C was determined for 2 -chloro-5-chloromethylpyridine.
