Description of key information

HBED-Fe (UVCB) is not flammable based on read across with the structurally related substances EDDHMA-Fe and EDDHMA-Fe that were tested and found to be non flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

EDDHMA-Fe (with either mainly Na or K present) could not be ignited with a flame and is therfore not "highly flammable" according to the criteria as described in the method A.10 of EEC-Directive 84/449/EEC

Pyrophoric properties does not need to be conducted because pyrophoric properties are not to be expected based on chemical structure.

Water reactivity does not need to be conducted because water reactivity is not to be expected based on chemical structure

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the results of the flammability tests with EDDHMA-Fe and taking into account the provisions laid down in Council Directive 67/548/EEC and CLP, the test substance HBED-Fe (UVCB) in its solid form is not consired for classification according to 67/548/EEC and CLP (GHS).
