RESULTS

WATER MEASUREMENT:

           Apparent Surface Tension: 78.0 mN/m

           Correction Factor: 0.9421

           Corrected Surface Tension: 78.0mN/m * 0.9421 = 73.48mN/m

TEST SUBSTANCE MEASUREMENTS:

READING #1:

Apparent Surface Tension: 62.7 mN/m

           Correction Factor: 0.9277

           Corrected Surface Tension: 62.7mN/m * 0.9277 = 58.17mN/m

READING #2:

Apparent Surface Tension: 66.7 mN/m

           Correction Factor: 0.9316

           Corrected Surface Tension: 66.7mN/m * 0.9316 = 62.14mN/m

AVERAGE SURFACE TENSION READING FOR SOLUTION:

                       58.17mN/m + 62.14 mN/m  = 60.16 mN/m

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
A solution of the test compound in water was found to have a surface tension of 60.16 mN/m (average of 58.17 mN/m and 62.14 mN/m). The substance is therefore not considered to be surface active.
Executive summary:

In a surface tension study (20169 -47), the surface tension of the test substance has been determined to be 60.16 mN/m for a 98.1 mg/L solution at 23.8 °C using the ring method based on OECD test Method 115. The substance is therefore not considered to be surface active.
