Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Based on examination by TEM the mean particle size was determined to be 0.2 µm.

Additional information

Based on determination of particle size distribution by sieving (following OECD 110 method), > 80% of the distribution of the particles size was higher than 20 μm.

However, another study showed that based on examination by TEM the mean particle size was 0.2 µm, and photographs showed significant agglomeration of the particles. Therefore, additional measurements were performed using laser diffraction.

The CIPAC MT 187 test was performed using laser diffraction method. It was found that the particles have a size range between 0.144 and 18.322 µm and the mean diameter was found at 3.761 µm. These findings show us that the results of particle size distribution depend on the method used.
