Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

HCAT was determined to be readily biodegradable, but failing the 10-day window under the conditions of the CO2 evolution test (OECD 301B). HCAT is therefore not considered to meet the criteria of “persistent” or “very persistent” (P; vP).

HCAT was estimated to have a log Pow of 2.64, which precluded the need to assess bioaccumulation any further. HCAT is therefore not considered to meet the criteria of “bioaccumulative” or “very bioaccumulative” (B; vB).

The results of acute toxicity tests carried out on fish, aquatic invertebrates and aquatic algae do not meet the criteria for classification as “toxic“ (T). HCAT is, however, considered to meet the T criteria based on the conclusion that the substance is a Category 2 reproductive toxin.

Likely routes of exposure:

HCAT will not be released into the environment in accordance with the presented identified uses of the substance, and exposure estimation, risk characterisation and risk management measures for protection of human health are presented in relevant exposure scenarios.
