First-aid measures

Inhalation: If inhaled remove to fresh air. If not breathing give artificail respiration. If breathing is difficult give oxygen.

Skin: In case of contact, immediately wash skin with soap and copious amounts of water.

Eye: In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes.

Ingestion: If swallowed, wash out mouth with water provided person is conscious. Call a physician.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media: Water fog, alcohol foam, dry chemical, CO2, dry sand.

Unsuitable media: Water jet.

Special Risks: 4,4'-difluorobenzophenone does not ignite easily, however it may burn, producing irritating and poisonous gases. Fine dust dispersed in air in sufficient concentrations and in the presence of an ignition source, is a potential dust explosion hazard.

Special Protective Equipment for Firefighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes.

Accidental release measures

Personal Precautions, Protective Equipment and Emergency Procedures: Evacuate immediate area. Warn personnel of fire, explosion and health hazard. Remove all sources of ignition. Wear self contained breathing apparatus, rubber boots and heavy rubber gloves.

Environmental Precautions: Warn people in the neighbourhood as necessary. Do not let this chemical enter the environment. Do not flush into sewer, river or any body of water.

Methods and Materials for Containment and Clean-Up: Use non-sparking tools and equipment. Vacuum or sweep up material and place in a disposal container. Avoid runoff to sewers or waterways.

Handling and storage

Handling: Keep away from heat, sparks and flame. Use only with adequate ventilation. Use expolosion proof electrical equipment. Take precautions against build up of electrostatic charges.

Avoid contact with eye, skin and clothing. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Provide hand and eye wash stationsnear work area. Wash thoroughly after handling.

Ventilation Reguirements: Use only under local exhaust or general ventilation.

Storage: Keep away from heat flame and all sources of ignition. Keep container tightly closed. Store in a cool dry place

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering controls: Safety shower and eye bath. Mechanical exhaust required.

General hygiene measures: Wash thoroughly after handling. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

Personal Protective Equipment: Respiratory protection: Use respirators andcomponents tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU). Where risk assessment shows air-purifying respirators are appropriate use a dust mask type N95 (US) or type P1 (EN 143) respirator.

Hand protection: Suitable gloves.

Eye protection: Chemical safety goggles

Stability and reactivity

Stability: Materiasl to avoid: Strong oxidising agents, Strong reducing agents.

Hazardous Decomposition Products: Carbon monoxide, Carbon dioxide, Hydrogen fluoride.

Disposal considerations

Waste from residues: Whatever cannot be saved for recovery may be burned in an approved incinerator or disposed in an approved waste facility. Ensure compliance with local, state and national requirements.

Contaminated Packaging: Empty the container completely before disposal.
