Additional information

Since no data on the toxicity of 3,7-dimethyloctan-1-ol to fish, aquatic plants and microorganisms are available the assessment of these endpoints are based on data for 3,7-dimethyloctan-3-ol, a close structural analogon. For aquatic invertebrates however, toxicity data is available.

The most sensitive organism regarding acute toxicity is Daphnia magna with an EC50 of 3.6 mg/L (measured geometric mean EC100 / EC0). LC50 and EC50 for fish and algae were determined to be quite similar (LC50 fish: 22 mg/L; EC50 algae: 21.6 mg/L), respectively.

The PNEC calculations are based on the results of the acute toxicity test performed with Daphnia magna.

The PNEC STP was calculated using the EC10 of 450 mg/l determined in a respiration inhibition test conducted with Pseudomonas putida.
