Description of key information

N-[(9Z)-octadec-9-en-1-yl]propane-1,3-diaminium di[(9Z)-octadec-9-enoate] CAS No. 34140 -91-5 (old CAS No. 40027-38-1) is a salt of N-[(9Z)-octadec-9-en-1-yl]propane-1,3-diamine and di[(9Z)-octadec-9-enoate (synonymous with oleyldiamine and oleic acid respectively). The basic structure of the N-[(9Z)-octadec-9-en-1-yl]propane-1,3-diamine consists of a hydrocarbon chain with a 1,3 -propanediamine group at the end of the chain which form ionic bonds with [(9Z)-octadec-9-enoate consisting of a hydrocarbon chain with an acid group at the end of the chain. The substance has almost no surface active properties in this form. The registered substance has no hydrolysable functional group and is readily biodegradable. The adsorption coefficient (Kd) of the substance has been determined to be in the range of 19686 – 37961 L/kg for three different soils in a test according to OECD TG 106, indicating a high sorption potential. The mean Kd of 30068 L/kg has been used for the derivation of other Kd values.
