Description of key information

A measured Log Kow of -0.3 was used to estimate the BCF for aquatic species.

The performance of an standard OECD 305 test is due to the intrinsic properties of the test substance not yet technically possible.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
3.16 dimensionless

Additional information

Branched triamines sorb easily to negatively charged surfaces like glassware, clay etc. They are biodegradable which makes a steady state exposure which is needed for a valid OECD 305 test impossible or very complicated. In addition they can form aggregates with salts in the reconstituted lab water used which complicates the stock solution preparation. The chemical analyses of these substances is continuously influenced by losses due to sorption. Therefore a calculation procedure is applied to assess the bioaccumulation potential which makes use of the measured log Kow (slow stirring method according to OECD 123) of a similar substance: a linear triamine.
