The cytotoxicity of 97 antioxidants of various structural types, among these the test substance, was determined for Tetrahymena pyriformnis grown in a peptone medium.

The test substance had low toxicity to Tetrahymena pyriformis (median ID50: >1000 µg/ml) and low toxicity to rat (LD50: >5 g/kg bw) as well as high antioxidant activity by the photodynamic test when related to d-a-Tocopherol (value 3.1 for the test substance and 1 for tocopherol).
