Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Two QSAR reports were also supplied. ECOSAR was used to estimate the toxicity of 2,3-Epoxypropanol (Glycid) to Daphnia. As the lethal toxicity of epoxide chemical class for Dapnia is the worst case for this estimated value, a 48 EC50 for Daphnia 2,176.81 mg/L was determined (Brady, 2010a).
OECD (Q)SAR (epoxides, mono neutral organic SAR (Baseline Toxicity)) was used to estimate the acute toxicity of 2,3-Epoxypropanol (Glycid) to Daphnia. The 48 EC50was estimated to be 334 mg/L (Brady, 2010b).

Additional information

Two QSAR reports have been provided to address the acute toxicity of 2,3-epoxypropanol (Glycid) to aquatic inverterates, one was generated using ECOSAR and the other using OECD QSAR Toolbox.

ECOSAR was used to estimate the toxicity of 2,3-Epoxypropanol (Glycid) to Daphnia. As the lethal toxicity of epoxide chemical class for Daphnia's the worst case for this estimated value, a 48 EC50 for Daphnia 2,176.81 mg/L was determined (Brady, 2010a).

OECD (Q)SAR (epoxides, mono neutral organic SAR (Baseline Toxicity)) was used to estimate the acute toxicity of 2,3-Epoxypropanol (Glycid) to Daphnia. The 48 EC50 was estimated to be 334 mg/L (Brady, 2010b).

Based on the prediction results described above and as the substance is readily biodegradable, the substance 2,3-Epoxypropanol (Glycid) is not classified for toxicity to the aquatic environment according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 or Directive 67/548/EEC.
