Description of key information

Key study: Test method according to OECD Guideline 201. GLP study. The EC50 (based on growth inhibition rate) of the test item in green algae was > 100 mg/L after 72 hours of exposure. The NOEC (based on growth inhibition rate) was determined to be 50 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
50 mg/L

Additional information

Key study: The green algae growth inhibition test was performed according to OECD Guideline 201 (GLP study). Based on preliminary results, the initial density of 1 x 104 cells/mL Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata were exposed to 0 (control, 6 replicates), 6.25, 12.5, 25, 50 and 100 mg/L test item (3 replicates) for 72 hours under static conditions. The EC50 (based on growth inhibition rate) of the test item in green algae was > 100 mg/L after 72 hours of exposure. The NOEC (based on growth inhibition rate) was determined to be 50 mg/L.
