Additional information

The biodegradability of 2-ethyl-2-[[(1-oxoheptyl)oxy]methyl]propane-1,3-diyl bisheptanoate (CAS 78-16-0) was tested in a study conducted according to OECD guideline 301 B (Muckle, 2009). The substance was incubated under aerobic conditions with domestic activated sludge for 29 days. During the test period the degradation of the substance was determined by measuring the CO2 production of the inoculum. A degradation rate of 85.3% was determined at test termination. The substance reached the pass level of 60% degradation after 7 days and thus met the 10-day window criterion. Therefore the substance can be considered as readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.
