Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Phototransformation in air is not relevant due to low vapour pressure (< 0.0001 Pa).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Experimental results on phototransformation of 2-ethyl-2-[[(1-oxoheptyl)oxy]methyl]propane-1,3-diyl bisheptanoate (CAS 78-16-0) are not available. A calculation using AOPWIN v1.92 indicates that the substance will be rapidly photodegraded by reaction with hydroxyl radicals with an estimated half-life of 15.68 hours (24 h day; OH-concentration: 0.5E+06 OH/cm³; Blum, 2011). However, due to the low vapour pressure (<0.0001 Pa, SPARC v 4.5 calculation) dispersal of the substance to the atmosphere is unlikely. Therefore indirect photodegradation is expected to be not relevant for the substance. As this study is not a standard information requirement in REACh and there is no indication from the Chemical Safety Assessment (CSA) on the need to investigate further the fate and behaviour of the substance (Annex X requirement), no further testing is considered necessary for the substance.
