Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Even though the substance is not considered readily biodegradable as the test substance did not yield 60% degradation in 28 days, the available experiment shows a degradation half life < 40 days (ultimate degradation).

Performing a bioaccumulation experiment on FAV-ES is technically hampered. The EpiSuite QSAR was used in order to gain information on the bioaccumulative potential of each of the identified constituents. The QSAR results show that 31 of the 34 constituents identified in FAV-ES have estimated BCF values < 2000. The remaining 3 constituents (F1, C4 and C5) have estimated BCF values of 2460, 2052 and 2802, respectively. Even though these estimated BCF values > 2000 indicate a potential for bioaccumulation, it has to be taken into account that the ester functions present in all FAV-ES constituents will be subject to hydrolysis under the influence of esterase and lipase enzymes present in the organism. As a consequence, an accumulation of the FAV-ES constituents in living organisms is unlikely. Therefore, none of the FAV-ES constituents are considered to have bioaccumulative potential.

For the toxicity endpoint, the available information shows that FAV-ES is not toxic to the environment, not classified as a CMR, nor is there any evidence for chronic toxicity of FAV-ES.

Based on the above assessment, it can be concluded that UVCB substance FAV-ES is not a PBT.
