Description of key information

Additional information

Appearance

At ambient temperature and pressure, Polyol TD is a colourless liquid with a slight odour (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Melting point

The melting point of Polyol TD is below 253 K (-20 °C) (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Boiling point

The boiling point of Polyol TD is 506 K (233 °C) at 101.3 kPa (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Density

The relative density of Polyol TD is 1.07 at 20 °C (relative to water at 4 °C) (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Granulometry

The granulometry test does not need to be conducted as Polyol TD is a liquid.

Vapour pressure

The vapour pressure of the separate main components of Polyol TD are 1.4 Pa (CTF, based on MPBPWIN), 4.9 Pa (DMP, based on MPBPWIN) and 0.010 Pa (TMP, based on SPARC) (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Partition coefficient

The partition coefficient (log Kow) for the separate main components of Polyol TD are 0.19 (CTF), -0.2 (DMP) and -0.8 (TMP) at 20 °C (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Water solubility

The solubility of Polyol TD in water is > 1000 g/L at 20 °C. Therefore, the substance is completely soluble (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Surface tension

The surface tension of Polyol TD is 62 mN/m at 20 °C (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Flash point

The flash point of Polyol TD is 392 K (119 °C) (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Auto-flammability

The self-ignition temperature of Polyol TD is 330 °C (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Flammability

The flammability test does not have to be conducted as Polyol TD is a liquid. Flammability of the substance is expressed as flash point.

Explosiveness

Examination of the structures of the main components indicate that there are no groups associated with explosive properties. Therefore, negative results can be predicted and no testing for explosive properties has been carried out.

Oxidising properties

Due to the structural composition of the main components, it is not considered to be oxidising. The substance does not contain any of the components listed in “Endpoint specific guidance R.7.1.13.3 table R.7.1-29”. According to “Endpoint specific guidance R.7.1.13.4" no experimental testing has to be conducted if the substance due to structural composition is considered not to be oxidising.

Stability in organic solvents

The stability in organic solvents is not considered critical to ensure confidence in other test results for other endpoints. Therefore testing is not needed to be conducted according to “Endpoint specific guidance R.7.1.16”.

Dissociation constant

The calculation program SPARC has been used for the prediction and it indicated that the three main components do not contain any ionisable functional groups since no change in charge was obtained at different pH. According to “Endpoint specific guidance R.7.1.17.1” the dissociation constant does not have to be conducted for substances that lack ionisable functional groups.

Viscosity

The viscosity of Polyol TD is 260 mPa s at 20 °C and 66 mPa s at 40 °C (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).
