Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
17 June 2014
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Burning time:
2 min
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

Safety Pre-Test:

A small amount of the test item was heated on a magnesia groove with a gas burner. Glowing was observed. The test item showed no signs of ignition.

Preliminary screening test:

The test item was heated with the flame of a teclu burner. Glowing was observed during heating. No ignition occurred within two minutes.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
FAT 92354/B should be considered as not highly flammable.
Executive summary:

This test was carried out according to EU method A.10 to determine the flammability of FAT 92354/B. The test item was formed into an unbroken strip or powder train about 250 mm long. A preliminary screening test should be performed to determine if, on ignition by a gas flame, propagation by burning with flame or smouldering occurs. If propagation over 200 mm of the train occurs within a specified time, then a full test programme to determine the burning rate was carried out. No ignition occurred within 2 minutes. Hence, FAT 92354/B should be considered as not highly flammable.

Description of key information

FAT 92354/B should be considered as not highly flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

This test was carried out according to EU method A.10 to determine the flammability of FAT 92354/B. The test item was formed into an unbroken strip or powder train about 250 mm long. A preliminary screening test should be performed to determine if, on ignition by a gas flame, propagation by burning with flame or smouldering occurs. If propagation over 200 mm of the train occurs within a specified time, then a full test programme to determine the burning rate was carried out. No ignition occurred within 2 minutes. Hence, FAT 92354/B should be considered as not highly flammable.

Justification for classification or non-classification

As the test substance is considered to be not flammable, classification is not needed according to the EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
