Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
12 June 2014
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 115 (Surface Tension of Aqueous Solutions)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.5 (Surface Tension)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
plate method
Surface tension:
63.096 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C
Remarks on result:
other: Concentration not provided
Conclusions:
The surface tension of FAT 92354/B was determined to be 63.096 mN/m
Executive summary:

The determination of the surface tension of FAT 92354/B was carried out according to OECD 115 Guideline and EU method A.5 using the plate method. The cleaned measurement vessel was filled with the test solution and placed into the moveable sample stage. The cleaned plate was placed into the instrument. The table was moved upwards to bring the liquid surface close to the plate without wetting them. The measurement is started within LabDesk. The balance was automatically unlocked, the sample table moved upwards. When the liquid surface touches the plate, extra weight will be detected due to the wetting of the plate by the liquid. In the following, the plate was immersed into the liquid. After immersion, the plate moves upwards to the initial position where it has touched the surface. The balance collected force values and from this, the surface tension was calculated. In conclusion, the surface tension of FAT 92354/B was determined to be 63.096 mN/m at room temperature 20 °C. The variation of specification factor was 0.04394 mN/m.
