Zinc bis(diethyldithiocarbamate) is a white powder with a melting range between 172 -183°C at 101.325 kPa (Analytical laboratory in Termoli, 1998), the boiling point of 301°C at 1013 hPa (Currenta GmbH & Co. OHG, 2010a) and a relative density of 1.42 at 20°C (Analytical laboratory in Termoli, 1998). Its water solubility is 1.06 mg/L at 20 ˚C and pH 5.9-6.4 (Currenta GmbH & Co. OHG, 2010b). The substance is non-flammable, non-explosive and non-oxidising. As the substance is virtually insoluble in water, its log Kow was calculated using KOWWIN v.1.67 (U.S.EPA, 2008) and is equal to 3.11. As the substance is a solid and volatility of the substance is expected to be negligible, the vapour pressure is estimated using MPBPWIN v.1.43 and is equal to 5.58E-005 mm Hg at 25 °C. The determination of surface tension, flash point, stability in organic solvents, and viscosity are not warranted in accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VII and/o with section 1 of REACH Annex XI and/or the REACH guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment (chapter R7.A). An OECD 112 study is planned to determine the dissociation constant in water. The following particle size distribution was determined (Currenta GmbH & Co. OHG, 2010c):

0.07% < 4 μm; 0.98% in the range of 4-10 μm; 98.94% in the range 10-100 μm; 0.01% > 100 μm(spherical volume).

0.08% < 4 μm; 1.12% in the range 4-10 μm; 98.80% in the range 10-100 μm (cubical volume).

The median diameter was 4.32 μm.
