Guideline:
OECD Guideline 115 (Surface Tension of Aqueous Solutions)
Version / remarks:
27 July 1995
Deviations:

Key result
Surface tension:
>= 48.07 - <= 49.52 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C
Conc.:
1 g/L
Conclusions:
The surface tension of an aqueous solution of Incorez 397 was determined in two measurements. The measurements revealed values of 48.07 and 49.52 mN/m at 20 °C. As the measured values were lower than 60 mN/m, Incorez 397 was classified as surface active.
Executive summary:

The determination of the surface tension of an aqueous solution of Incorez 397 was performed according to EU Method A.5 / OECD Guideline 115. The surface tension of an aqueous solution of the test item Incorez 397 was determined as 48.07 ± 0.11 mN/m at 20.0 ± 0.1 °C. One additional measurement was performed for verification (after 61 minutes). No significant changes and thus no significant dependence on time were observed.

As the measured values were lower than 60 mN/m, Incorez 397 was classified as surface active. The surface tension of the negative control lay within the accepted range.
