Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid non flammable in air, e.g. no flash point up to 200°C

Description of key information

Methylphosphonic acid exists in white crystalline form at room temperature with a melting point of 105 °C at normal air pressure. The liquid form (>105 °C) could not be bringing to boil because decomposition occurs. A test to determine the flash point was carried out up to a temperature of 200 °C with the result that an exact flash point could not be determined (>200 °C). Therefore, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 Annex VII, a test for auto-flammability does not need to be conducted.
