Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Eye contact:

- rinse immediately with tap water for 10 minutes

- open eyelids forcibly

- consult a physician if irritation persists

Skin contact:

- remove immediately contaminated clothes, wash affected skin with water and soap

- do not use any solvents

- consult a physician if skin irritation persists

Inhalation:

- remove the casualty to fresh air and keep him/her calm

- in the event of symptoms get medical treatment

Note to physician:

- treat symptomatically

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: foam, powder, carbon dioxide

Unsuitable extinguishing media: use water spray for cooling purposes only (fat explosion hazard)

Protection of fire-fighters: precipitate gases/vapours/mists with water spray

Special method of fire-fighting: collect contaminated fire-fighting water separately, must not be discharged into the drains

Accidental release measures

Environmental protection: do not allow to enter drains or waterways

Methods for cleaning up:  when the spilled material is taken up with an universal binding material or another soaking material, attention should be

paid to the possibility of an exothermic autooxidation in contact with atmospheric oxygen

Handling and storage

Handling

Technical measures:

- processing in closed systems, superposed by inert gas (e.g. nitrogen)

- local exhaust ventilation necessary

- take precautionary measures against electrostatic charging

Suitable materials: aluminium, glass, enamel, steel

Storage

Storage conditions:

- store under inert gas

- below 25 °C

- keep container tightly closed

Packaging materials:

- tightly closing; material: glass, metals, light metals

Exposure controls / personal protection

Personal protective equipment

Respiratory protection:

- in case of open handling of larger quantities or accidental release: mask with activated charcoal filter or respirator with independent air supply

Hand protection:

- protective gloves (eg made of NBR Acrylnitril-Butadien-Rubber)

Eye protection:

- safety glasses

Stability and reactivity

Stability:

- stable under the conditions mentioned above

Materials to avoid:

- oxidizing agents, air

Note:

- in case of extensive air contact (e.g. soaked rags, moistened clothes) an exothermic autooxidation (self-ignition) is possible

Disposal considerations

Waste from residues:

- observe local/national regulations regarding waste disposal

- large amounts: incinerate in qualified installation with flue gas scrubbing

Note:

- Organic materials (e.g. rags, paper, wood) which are soaked with

this product can heat up and catch fire in the presence of air, even

at room temperature: store in the absence of air (e.g. in water) and send it for incineration.
