Description of key information

Due to its solubility at environmental pHs, octanol-water partition coefficient and low volatility tetramethylthiuram monosulphideis not expected to adsorb to soil or sediment and will mainly be present in the aqueous phase.

Tetramethylthiuram monosulphide has been shown to be very toxic to algae and toxic to daphnia and fish in acute studies:

72h-ErC50 (algae) = 0.32 mg/L

48h-EC50 (invertebrates) = 2.9 mg/L

96h-LC50 (fish) = 5.3 mg/L

Results of chronic toxicity tests on tetramethylthiuram monosulphide are as follows:

21d-NOEC (invertebrates) = 6.1 µg/L

72h-ErC10 (algae) = 0.14 mg/L
