MAPTAC has a log Kow of -2,58, a low potential for adsorption to soil (based on an estimated log Koc of -0.6) and is inherently biodegradable.

Results from a Mackay level III distribution modelling indicate that if MAPTAC is released into air, it mainly distributes to soil. A smaller amount partitions to water. If the substance is released into water, it mainly remains in water. The substance does not significantly partition to sediment.

The PNECs for soil have been derived from the PNEC for freshwater using the equilibrium partitioning method. Using this PNECsoil value, the risk characterisation showed that the PEC/PNECsoil ratio is <1, indicating that the testing of effects on terrestrial organisms is not necessary. The available data are sufficient for risk characterisation.
