Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Calculated pKa= 12 at 25°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

As the test compound is very poorly soluble in water thus an experimental determination of the dissociation constant is not possible.

Since the test compound has two dissociable functional groups (-OH) thus in addition the dissociation constant have been calculated using different software SPARC and ACD/Labs as recommended in Guideline. It can be concluded that the dissociation constant of substance was calculated to be pKa= 12 at 25°C (related to SPARC) and an ionisable substance with a pKa above 10 will tend not dissociate in water under normal environmental conditions.
