Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

For the persistence assessment, results from an OECD 308 study are read across from polysulfides, di-tert-dodecyl. Based on the DT50 values for sediment, polysulfides, di-tert-nonyl is considered to be persistent but not very persistent. Results from an OECD 305 study with dietary exposure are read across from polysulfides, di-tert-dodecyl. As measured concentrations in fish were <LOD throughout the 14-day exposure period, polysulfides, di-tert-nonyl is not considered to be bioaccumulative or very bioaccumulative.

As polysulfides di-tert-nonyl showed no biologically significant effects at the limit of solubility in chronic ecotoxicity studies, is not classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction and there is no other evidence of chronic toxicity as identified by classifications of R48 under the DSD or STOT RE Categories 1 or 2 according to the CLP, it is considered to not meet the criteria for toxic. Therefore, polysulfide di-tert-nonyl is not PBT or vPvB.
