Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Reaction and/or decomposition at temperatures > 179 °C (> 452 K), therefore no boiling point determined; OECD 103, EU Method A.2 and EPA OPPTS 830.7220

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The boiling point of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guidelines OECD 103, EU Method A.2 and EPA OPPTS 830.7220 under GLP conditions using differential scanning calorimetry.

The DSC technique records the difference in heat flow of two crucibles, one filled with test material and the other left empty as reference, while these crucibles are subjected to a controlled temperature programme. The boiling temperature of the test material is evaluated from the DSC curve as the extrapolated onset temperature of the endothermic boiling peak.

For the triplicate determinations, 3.30, 3.20 and 3.96 mg of the test material were used. From an initial temperature of 25 °C, the samples were heated at a rate of 20 °C/minute for replicates 1 and 2 and 5 °C/minute for replicate 3. The end temperature was 400 °C for replicates 1 and 3 and 225 °C for replicate 2. The experiments were performed under a flow of nitrogen and at atmospheric pressure.

Under the conditions of this study, reaction and/or decomposition was observed at temperatures of > 179 °C (> 452K). Boiling of the test material was not observed below the temperature at which reaction and/or decomposition started. Based on this, the test material has no boiling temperature.
