Description of key information

The test material does not have a self-ignition temperature below its melting point; EU Method A.16

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The auto-ignition properties of the test material were investigated in accordance with the standardised guideline EU Method A.16 under GLP conditions. The study was awarded a reliability score of 1 in accordance with the principles for assessing data quality set forth by Klimisch et al. (1997).

The self-ignition temperature of the test material was determined using a temperature programmed laboratory oven, a stainless steel wire mesh cube, NiCr/NiAl thermocouples and a temperature recording device. The oven was heated from 19 to 400 °C at a rate of 0.5 °C/minute.

No endothermic or exothermic effect of the test material was observed between 20 °C and the melting temperature of the test material.

Under the conditions of this study, the test material is considered not to have a self-ignition temperature below its melting point.
