First-aid measures

General advice:
Immediately remove contaminated clothing.

If inhaled:
If difficulties occur after vapour/aerosol has been inhaled, remove to fresh air and seek medical
attention.

On skin contact:
Wash thoroughly with soap and water.

On contact with eyes:
Immediately wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open,
consult an eye specialist.

On ingestion:
Rinse mouth immediately and then drink plenty of water, seek medical attention.

Note to physician:
Treatment: Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions), no known specific
antidote.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:
water spray, dry extinguishing media, foam

Specific hazards:
harmful vapours
Evolution of fumes/fog. The substances/groups of substances mentioned can be released in case of
fire.

Special protective equipment:
Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.

Further information:
The degree of risk is governed by the burning substance and the fire conditions. Contaminated
extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with official regulations.

Accidental release measures

High risk of slipping in case of leakage/spillage of product (low viscosity)

Personal precautions:
Avoid contact with the skin, the eyes and clothing. Use personal protective clothing. Ensure adequate ventilation. Breathing protection required.

Environmental precautions:
Do not discharge into drains, surface waters, ground water. Contain contaminated water/firefighting water.

Methods for cleaning up or taking up:
For large amounts: Pump off product.
For small amounts/residues: Pick up with suitable absorbent material. Immediately dispose of absorbed material in accordance
with regulations.
Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly with water and detergents, observing environmental regulations

Handling and storage

Handling:
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. The substance/ product may be handled only by appropriately trained personnel. Facility parts must be checked for polymer residues and cleaned on regular basis in order to avoid hazardous reactions.
Ensure thorough ventilation of stores and work areas. Encapsulation or exhaust ventilation required. When filling, transferring, or emptying of contai-ners, adequate local exhaust ventilation is necessary. Vent waste air to atmosphere only through suitable separators. Check the condition of seals and connector screw threads. Do not open warm or swollen product containers. Remove persons to safety and alert fire brigade.
The temperatures which must be avoided are to be considered. Protect against heat. Protect from direct sunlight. Protect contents from the effects of light.
Ensure adequate inhibitor and dissolved oxygen level.
Because of the possible separation from the stabilizer the product should never be partially melted and taken. Ensure that there is no crystallized product in the container before use. Obtain Information from supplier/ manufacturer before dissolving totally or partially crystallized product. The ambient temperature of the container may not exceed the stated temperature limit when melting the product or keeping it at moderate temperature.

Protection against fire and explosion:
It is recommended that all conductive parts of the machinery are grounded.
Heated containers should be cooled to prevent polymerization. If exposed to fire, keep containers cool by spraying with water. Emergency cooling must be provided for the eventuality of a fire in the vicinity. Sealed containers should be protected against heat as this results in pressure build-up.

Storage:
Further information on storage conditions: Prior to storage ensure that the transfer equipment used and the intended storage containers do not contain other substances/products. Before transfer to stock the identity of the product must be proved to be without doubt. The entrance to storage rooms is to be granted only to appropriately trained personnel.
Protect against heat. Protect from the effects of light. The stabilizer is only effective in the presence of oxygen.
All storage containers should be equipped with high temperature alert devices.
Even if the product is stored and handled as prescribed/indicated it should be used up within the indicated duration of storage.

Storage stability:
Storage temperature: 10 - 35 °C
Storage duration: 12 Months
The stated storage temperature should be noted.
Avoid prolonged storage.
Do not store with less than 10 % headspace above liquid.
Storage stability is based upon ambient temperatures and conditions described.
Shelf life is limited; see product information leaflet.

A restabilization system should be used if the temperature in the storage container reaches the indicated value.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Personal protective equipment:
1-Respiratory protection:
Suitable respiratory protection for higher concentrations or long-term effect: Gas filter for gases/vapours of organic compounds (boiling point >65 °C, e. g. EN 14387 Type A)
Respiratory protection in case of aerosol release: ambient-air independant respirator, i.e. compressed air line device with helmet or hood according to EN 14594. Blower-assisted respirator with helmet or hood, type TH2-A2P2 according to EN 12941.
Disposable protective overall with hood, type 4 according EN 14605.
2- Hand protection:
Chemical resistant protective gloves (EN 374)
Suitable materials also with prolonged, direct contact (Recommended: Protective index 6, corresponding > 480 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374): for prolonged exposure, i.e. more than 1 hour, the recommendation is to use multilayer laminated gloves, e.g. "Barrier(R)" from Ansell, "Silver Shield / 4H (R)" from North. Alternatively, thick (~0.7 mm) Butyl rubber gloves and "Dupont Viton (R)" gloves can also be used. For very short contact time, i.e. up to 1/2 hr. maximum, medium (~0.45 mm) and thick (>0.55 mm) nirtrile rubber gloves may still be used.
Supplementary note: The specifications are based on tests, literature data and information of glove manufacturers or are derived from similar substances by analogy. Due to many conditions (e.g. temperature, presence of solvents) it must be considered, that the practical usage of a chemical-protective glove in practice may be much shorter than the determined permeation time.
Manufacturer's directions for use should be observed because of great diversity of types.
3- Eye protection:
Tightly-fitting safety glasses with side-shields (frame/cage goggles) (e.g. EN 166) and face shield.

Body protection:
Body protection must be chosen depending on activity and possible exposure, e.g. apron, protecting boots, chemical-protection suit (according to DIN-EN14605 in case of splashes or EN ISO 13982 in case of dust).

General safety and hygiene measures:
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wearing of closed work clothing is required additionally to the stated personal protection equipment.

Stability and reactivity

No hazardous decomposition products if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.
Possibility of hazardous reactions:
The product is stabilized against spontaneous polymerization prior to dispatch.
The product can polymerize if the shelf life or storage temperature are greatly exceeded. Heat develops during polymerization. Reacts with peroxides and other radical components.

Conditions to avoid:
Avoid heat . Avoid low oxygen content above the product, i.e. less than 5%. Avoid UV-light and other radiation sources with high energy. Avoid direct contact with water. Avoid temperatures below the crystallisation range.

Incompatible materials affecting sability:
Avoid peroxides and any free radical initiators, radical formers, as well as mercaptans, oxidizing agents, reducing agents, strong bases, acid anhydrides, acid chlorides. Avoid inert gas.

Disposal considerations

This material and its container must be disposed of as hazardous waste. It must be dumped or incinerated in accordance with local regulations.
Contaminated packaging:
Disposal must be done according to official regulations. Packs that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of in the same manner as the contents.
