Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

EC50 for microorganisms:
655 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
655 mg/L

Additional information

A study is available on Reactive Orange 16, with a contact time of 30 minutes. At the highest tested concentration :100 mg / L , no significant inhibition was observed. Thus, the values of EC50 and EC20 are greater than 100 mg / L.

An examination of similar substance 3 , toxicity to bacteria ("bacterial toxicity") was made in the oxygen-inhibition test ("test Robra") plants with activated sludge from municipal wastewater biological treatment Frankfurt / M - Sindlingen as inoculum. The provision of the inhibition rate of oxygen consumption after 3 hours of exposure to the test item on bacteria test gave the following results:

Median inhibitory concentration, EC50: >> 1000 mg/L , NOEC, EC20 : >1000 mg/L (655 mg/L based on active ingresient) , EC 80: >> 1000 mg/L.

Similar substance 2 is very similar isomer of reactive orange 16 and therefore the microbial toxicity can be taken in read across supported also by the qualitative assessment on Reactive Orange 16 described in Chemosphere article and the result on similar substance 3.

All the assessments have consistent results.
