Administrative data

First-aid measures

General advice: immediately take off contaminated clothing and thoroughly clean the body
Inhalation: if inhalation occurred, move to fresh air and seek medical advice
Skin contact: take off contaminated cloth. Wash with water and soap. If skin irritation continues, consult a physician.
Eye contact: protect unharmed eye. Rinse eye thoroughly with plenty of water and consult a physician.
Ingestion: rinse out mouth with water (only if person is conscious). Immediately consult a physician.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media: water mist, foam, carbon dioxide (CO2), dry powder
Unsuitable extinguishing media: water jet

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
Special hazard arising from corrosive and toxic combustion products and decomposition products

Information for firefighting:
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit. No unprotected exposed skin areas.
Further information: use extinguishing measures that are appropriate regarding local circumstances and the surrounding environment.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment, and emergency procedures:
evacuate people to safety. Wear protective equipment. Keep unprotected persons away. Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid dust formation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes.

Environmental precautions:
prevent further leakage and spilling, if safe to do so. Do not allow to enter the environment.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:
collect mechanically. Gather in well-sealed container for waste disposal.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:
Advice on safe handling: ensure good ventilation/exhaustion at the workplace. Avoid dust formation. Do not inhale dust. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Information about protection against fire and explosion:
all flammable solids have the potential for dust explosion. The possibility of an explosion depends on different factors, such as the properties of the material, the design of the enclosure and the handling of the material. A detailed description can be found in NFBA Bulletin 654 "Standard for the Prevention of Fire and Dust Explosions from the Manufacturing, Processing, and Handling of Combustible Particulate Solids".

Hygiene measures:
Separate wash cabin, shower cubicle and changing cubicle are required. Work clothes are kept separately. Immediately take off contaminated clothing. Before breaks and end of the working day wash hands. Do not eat and drink during working. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:
Further information about storage conditions: store in tightly closed container in a cool and well-ventilated place. Do not leave the container open. Avoid contaminating the container with product remains.

Storage class: flammable solid

Specific end use(s): no data available

Exposure controls / personal protection

Occupational exposure controls
The Personal Protective Equipment must be in accordance with EN standards:respirator EN 136, 140, 149; safety glasses EN 166; protective suit: EN 340, 463, 468, 943-1, 943-2; gloves EN 374, safety shoes EN-ISO 20345.
Do not breathe dust.
Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.
Take off all contaminated clothing immediately.

Environmental exposure controls
Handle in accordance with local environmental regulations and good industrial practices.

Engineering measures
Use with local exhaust ventilation.

Personal protective equipment
Hand protection
- material of gloves: natural latex
- penetration time: > 480 min
- thickness of gloves: 0.6 mm
- Lapren®706
- gloves need to be examine before use
- gloves should be replaced at first signs of wear
- note: the information are based on examinations and information provided by the manufacturer as stated below or based on information derived from similar substances
It has to be consider that the break-through time of the gloves may be much shorter than the permeation time determined according to EN 374 due to the many different influential factors involved (e.g. temperature, other exposure etc.)
Since usually the operating conditions do not follow the standardized measurement conditions the operating time should not exceed 50% of the break-through time as recommended by the manufacturer.
The instructions for use of the manufacturer should be followed.
Examination according to EN 374
Suitable are , e.g, protective gloves of the company KCL GmbH, D-36124 Eichenzell, Vertrieb@kcl.de

Skin and body protection
- impermeable protective clothing

Eye protection
- safety goggles

Respiratory protection
- note: if dust or aerosol develop, use breathing protection with recommended filter device

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: during intended usage no decomposition occurs.

Chemical stability: no data

Possibility of hazardous reactions:
- dangerous polymerisation does not occur.
- during intended usage no decomposition occurs.

Conditions to avoid: protect against humidity and water

Incompatible materials: water, alcohols, incompatible with oxidising agents, strong bases

Hazardous decomposition products: sulfur oxides, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and danger of generation of toxic pyrolysis product

Disposal considerations

Product: disposal according to official regulations

Packaging: official regulations relating to recycling or disposal of used packaging material are to be followed

Further information: regulations of disposal: Directive 2006/12/EC, Directive 2008/98/EC, and Regulation (EC) No. 1013/2006
