No flashpoint observed below the boiling point.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Two studies were conducted to determine the flash point of 2 -bromo-3,3,3 -trifluoropropene (Huntingdon Life Sciences, 2012, study code WAG0005, and Chilworth Global, 2010, study code AM10633RP). In both tests, no flash was seen upon heating the test substance to the boiling point (approximately 33 - 34°C). In one test, the vapour of the boiling test material was observed to extinguish the tester flame.

On the basis of these results, it is concluded that 2 -bromo-3,3,3 -trifluoropropene is not combustible under the conditions of these tests. It should be noted that these observations are consistent with the intended use of the test material, as a fire suppressant.
