Additional information

The acute toxicity of study substance, mono-, and di-(sec-hexadecyl)naphthalene, as measured by cell number growth or inhibition to the green alga (Selenastrum capricornutum) was evaluated in freshwater [Mobil Environmental and Health Science Lab (1990)]. The test was evaluated at 0, 970, 1940, 2910, 5820 and 10670 mg/L water solution loads. The study substance did not produce any acute toxicity to alga up to loadings of 10670 mg/L relative to controls under the conditions of this study. No significant inhibition of algal growth (e.g., cell number) is expected for the study substance at its maximal water solubility level under the conditions of this test. The 96-hr EL50 value was determined to be >10670 mg/L loadings and the 96 hr NOEL value was estimated to be >10670 mg/L loading.
