Description of key information

The Henry’s law constant for mono-, and di-(sec-hexadecyl)naphthalene has been calculated to be ca. 0.0104 atm-m3/mole using the US EPA EPI-Suite model.   This indicates that volatilization from water, if it occurs, is relatively slow.  Similarly, volatilization from air and from air are expected to be slow and limited.

The study substance, mono-, and di-(sec-hexadecyl)naphthalene, is expected to have a vapor pressure that is relatively low (<0.00034 Pa at 25 °C) which indicates limited volatilization from the terrestrial compartment. The Henry’s law constant for mono-, and di-(sec-hexadecyl)naphthalene has been calculated to be ca. 0.0104 atm-m3/mole and indicate that volatilization from water, if it occurs, is relatively slow. Hence, mono-, and di-(sec-hexadecyl)naphthalene most likely volatilize slowly to air from aqueous environments and probably have limited volatilization from soil.
