First-aid measures

In case of serious or persistent conditions, call a doctor or emergency medical care.Inhalation:Remove to fresh air. If breathing stops, provide artificial respiration. Give oxygen if necessary. Get medical attention.Symptoms : Headaches. Euphoria. Narcotic in case of inhalation of high concentration of vapour.Ingestion:Give nothing to drink.Do not induce vomiting to avoid the risk of aspiration into the respiratory tract. In the event of extensive ingestion : Give 5 tablespoons active carbon stirred in as little water as possible. Immediately transport to hospital.Symptoms : Irritation of the digestive system. In the event of ingestion with bronchial inhalation : Pneumonopathy with respiratory distress.Skin contact:Immediately remove contaminated clothing. Wash the affected area immediately and repeatedly with soap and water. Prolonged or repeated contact with the skin may cause rash or more serious skin affections.Eye contact:Wash immediately in copious amounts of water, keeping eyelids apart for at least 15 minutes and consult a specialist. In case of splashing in the eyes: Eye irritation (lachrymation, conjunctivitis).Aspiration:If the product is believed to have entered the lungs (in case of vomiting, for example), take the person to hospital for immediate care.Protective equipment for first-aiders: Personal breathing apparatus must be worn when operating in confined premises.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:- suitable: Carbon dioxide, dry chemicals, foam, water spray (fog).- not recommended: Solid water streams are prohibited as they could help to spread the flames.Specific fire-fighting methods:Cool down any tanks and surfaces exposed to fire by spraying abundantly with water.Specific hazards:Highly flammableVapours are heavier than air and may spread on the ground to sources of ignition. Forms explosive mixtures with air.If heated, volume and pressure increases strongly, resulting in explosion of container. Spreading of fire and explosion hazard by liquid layers on the water surface.Hazardous combustion products:Incomplete combustion and thermolysis may produce potentially toxic gases such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, different hydrocarbons, aldehydes, etc. and soot. The inhalation of these materials is very dangerous.Protective measures for firefighters: Insulated breathing apparatus must be worn in confined premises with heavy concentrations of fumes and gases.Other: All combustion residues and contaminated water from fire-fighting should be disposed of according to local regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal protection:Ensure good ventilation. As applicable in view of the risk of exposure, wear hydrocarbon-proof protective clothing, gloves, goggles, boots, and an insulated breathing apparatus (if vapour inhalation is a risk)After spillage / leakage:Stop the leak by turning off the valve. Contain the spilled product. Do not allow the product to enter sewers or rivers or contaminate the soil.Contact the competent authorities if the situation cannot be brought under control rapidly and efficiently.Spill cleanup methods:- Recovery:Contain and recover by physical means. Use flame-proof and explosion-proof material. Absorb small spills on dry chemical absorbent.- on water Use floating absorbent material to be removed mechanically.Preserve the waste in closed and sealed recipients.- Elimination:Hand over contaminated materials to an approved collector.Flush with plenty of water to clean spillage area.Prevention of secondary risks:Remove all sources of ignition. Cut off the electric power supply if this operation causes no sparks in the area containing vapours from the product.

Handling and storage

HANDLING:Prevention of user exposure:Use in a closed system.Handle in well-ventilated premises. If not, wear individual breathing equipment.Prevention of fire and explosion:Handle away from any source of ignition (open flame and sparks) and heat (hot manifolds or casings). Use explosion-proof material. Do not smoke.Make provision for water network to avoid any spread of fire. Prevent any build-up of static electricity.Precautions:Avoid extended and repeated contact with the skin as this may cause skin conditions, which may also be aggravated by minor injuries or by contact with soiled clothing.Avoid breathing in vapours, fumes or mists.Avoid splashing.Do not wipe your hands with cloths used for cleaning.Do not spray at high pressure (> 3 bar). The use of oxygen or compressed air for product circulation by direct contact is prohibited (risk of accidents).STORAGE:Technical measures:Use anti-explosive materials conforming with the applicable regulations.Prevent any build-up of static electricity.Storage precautions:- Suitable:Store in well-ventilated premises and away from any source of ignition or heat.Containers and equipments must be earthed in order to prevent sparks due to staticelectricity.Arrange the machinery and equipment so as to prevent fire from spreading (retention pits and basins, syphons in the drainage system).Use only hydrocarbon resistant containers, joints, pipe-lines.Keep in closed and accurately labelled containers when not in use.Installations should be designed to avoid ground and water pollution.Incompatible products:Avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents.Packaging materials:- Recommended: Keep in original container if possible.- Not to be used: Plastics.

Exposure controls / personal protection

The personal protective equipment (PPE) recommendations apply to the product ITSELF. In case of mixtures or formulations, it is suggested that you contact the relevant PPE suppliers.Technical measures:Use this product in a well-ventilated atmosphere with explosion-proof equipment.Occupational exposure limit: France : VME = 400 ppm (1600mg/m3)Respiratory protection: When using a mask or half-mask : Organic vapour cartridge, type A (if vapour inhalation is a risk)In case of vapours or sprays formation: Combined gas cartridge (organic gases and dust, filter A/P2).Be aware that filter protection time is limited.Hand protection:Liquid proof aliphatic solvent resisting gloves :Recommended materials:- In case of splashes or limited contact :Polychloroprene. Thickness > 0.7 mm - Permeation time according to EN 374-3 : > 180 minutesNitrile. Thickness > 0.2 mm - Permeation time according to EN 374-3 : > 60 minutes- In case of prolonged or repeated contact :Nitrile. Thickness > 0.45 mm - Permeation time according to EN 374-3 : > 480 minutesFluoro polymer and PVA - any thickness. Permeation time according to EN 374-3 : > 480 minutesFor more precise details about the choice of appropriate protective glove, please contactthe manufacturer.Eye protection: Safety goggles.Skin and body (other than the hands) protection :Appropriate protective clothing.Hygienic work practice:Avoid prolonged and repeated contact with the skin.

Stability and reactivity

Stability:The product is stable at normal storage, handling and use temperatures.Conditions to avoid: Heat (temperatures above flash point), sparks, ignition points, flames, static electricityMaterials to avoid: Strong oxidising agents.Hazardous decomp. products:Incomplete combustion and thermolysis produces potentially toxic gases such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, various hydrocarbons, aldehydes and soot.

Disposal considerations

Waste disposal:Prevent from entering sewers or the immediate environment.- Relevant disposal method:The only method authorized is collection by an authorized waste contractor and regeneration or incineration in an approved installation.Disposal of contaminated packaging:Hand over to an authorised waste contractor.Empty packagings may contain flammable or explosive vapours.
