First-aid measures

General: Normal first aid, fresh air. Keep the person warm. Contact corporate health service.Inhalation: Move the exposed person to fresh air immediately.Skin contact: Wash the skin immediately with soap and water.Eye contact: Rinse the eye with water immediately. Continue to rinse for at least 15 minutes. Contact physician if irritation persists.Ingestion: Flush mouth with water. Drink plenty of water in case of swallowing. Get medical attention.Information for health personnel: No health hazard according to the current regulation.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Water, powder, foam or CO2. Use extinguishing media appropriate for surrounding fire. Water is preferred.Fire and explosion hazards: Be aware of possible development of corrosive smoke and toxic gases (Fire or strong heat may develop iodine vapor, nitrous gases (NOX) and carbon monoxide (CO)). Static unloading of dry powder may cause fire on inflammable medium.Fire fighting procedures: No particular requirement on fire fighting procedure.Personal protective equipment: Do not breathe poisonous and corrosive gases. Use self-contained breathing apparatus and tight coat because the combustion gases contain iodine vapor.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: General protection: Wear breathing dust protection and eye protection, if dust formation occurs. Use gloves to avoid skin contact.Environmental precautions: Use appropriate containers to avoid environmental pollution. Methods for cleaning Small spill: Sweep, vacuum, or wipe up spill with damp cloth and discard as waste. Clean up with a moist cloth or paper towel. Use plenty of warm water. Wash area with soap and water.

Handling and storage

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with the ECHA REACH Guidance on Intermediates. SIte documentation to demonstrate safe handling arrangements in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at Manufacturing site.Handling: Avoid spilling, skin and eye contact. Avoid handling which leads to dust formation.Storage: Store at moderate temperatures in dry, well ventilated area. Keep containers closed tightly. Protect from light, including direct sun-rays.Special risks and properties: Dry powder can promote static electric during handling.Hygienic work practices: Wash your hands at the end of each work shift, and before eating and using the toilet. Wash promptly if skin becomes contaminated.

Exposure controls / personal protection

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with the ECHA REACH Guidance on Intermediates. Site documentation to demonstrate safe handling arrangements in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at Manufacturing site.Recommended monitoring procedures: Dust measurement. Followed dust exposure Norwegian Standard Method.Occupational exposure controls: Provide sufficient ventilation for operations causing dust formation.Respiratory protection: Wear breathing respirator if there is dust formation.Hand protection: Wear suitable protective gloves if risk of skin contact. Wear protective gloves made of: Neoprene, nitrile, polyethylene or PVC.Eye protection: Wear approved safety glasses.Skin protection (other than of the hands): Wear appropriate clothing to prevent any possibility of skin contact.

Stability and reactivity

Conditions to avoid: Avoid heating above the decompose temperature.Materials to avoid: Avoid contact with reactive substances/strong oxidation agent. Contact with strong acid or base result in possible decomposition of the substance and eventually iodine liberation.Hazardous decomposition products: Overheating causes formation of poisonous gases of NOx and carbon monoxide (CO). Corrosive iodine vapour may also develop.Stability: Stable under normal and anticipated storage and handling conditions.
