Justification for Read Across
Synfluid®PAO 9 cSt is a mixture of Alkane 6 and Alkane 4 (a structural analogue). Alkane 4 and Alkane 6 are branched chain oligomers of 1 -dodecene and differ only with respect to their relative viscosity values. Aside from the trimer faction (Alkane 4), other distinct oligomers are difficult to separate. With agreement from the UK Competent Authority, the original New Substance Notification under the European DSG Directive for Alkane 6 was based on Physical Chemical properties data read across from Alkane 4. The data available for Alkane 4 and
Synfluid®PAO 9 cSt demonstrate the non-hazardous physico-chemical properties of Alkane 6.
