First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air and seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Irrigate well with with plenty of clean water for 10-15

minutes. If irritation persists, seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Rinse affected area with soap and copious amounts of water.

If symptons persist, seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, mist, foam, dry powder and carbon dioxide.

Product arising from burning: Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and various oxides of

nitrogen.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Personal protective clothing and equipment.

Self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Any spills should be recovered using a vacuum or similar

dust collector and transferred to an appropriate container

which is disposed of at a licensed facility. Ventilate area

and wash spill site, however, do not allow to enter sewers

or waterways.

Handling and storage

Handling: Use only in well ventilated areas.

Do not breathe dust and avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Wear safety goggles, simple filter mask (e.g 3M, Part No

8500), gloves (polyethylene) and protective clothing.

Protective clothing which is worn in clean rooms is

electrically treated.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated place away from strong

oxidising agents and direct sunlight. Storage containers

should be tightly closed and the ambient temperature should

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Both contaminated and uncontaminated test substance must be

destroyed. It is not possible to recover/recycle the test

substance.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Does not generate harmful gases when incinerated.

Incineration code:660

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: None.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None known.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable, the test substance will not enter the public

domain.

Used OPC drums are returned to aluminium manufacturers for

aluminium recovery. As part of this process, the thin outer

layer is incinerated before aluminium recovery and

refinement takes place. Therefore, used OPC drums do not

reach the public domain.
